FISH WINDOW CLEANING AND OUR HISTORY The original Fish Window Cleaning location was founded in January of 1978 by Mike Merrick. Mike Merrick has a degree in accounting and was married with two kids when he lost his job of years as manager of a savings and loan bank due to a recession. He found out that the person that cleaned the windows at the bank he worked with had his business up for sale. He bought the business and ran it for 20 years before they decided to start franchising. Today Fish Window Cleaning is the largest window cleaning company in the nation with 200 franchisees running 250 locations nationwide.

In 2010 Don Stormoen bought the Fish Window Cleaning Franchise that services the southern territory of Southeastern Wisconsin after he was laid off from a manufacturing company. He started the franchise from the ground up with the support of his wife and daughter. He ran an extremely successful franchise for 12 years. In 2020 he decided he wanted to retire and sell the business to be with his family.

In 2021, Greg Curtis was working for a robotics company in Waukesha, WI as Services Coordinator. Eida Curtis was working as an account manager for a lead processing company in Glendale WI. Greg’s mother became very ill. In early 2022 she was diagnosed with early onset leukemia. Her prescribed treatment was extremely aggressive, and it started putting a strain on our full-time jobs.

We started brainstorming on what we could do to be more available for his mother and her treatments since she could no longer drive. We met a career coach through LinkedIn who introduced us to the Fish Window Cleaning Franchise. We learned about the franchise located in Hales Corners that was for sale and met with Don. After a lot of research, we realized that by becoming Fish Window Cleaning Franchisees we would have a lot more flexibility to provide the care that Greg’s mother needed, and we made the purchase which became official on November 1st in 2022.

Our intention is to run this company by continuing the excellence in customer service that we honed in our over 25 years of experience in the workforce. Our philosophy is to treat our employees the same way we always hoped we would be treated. We were lucky enough to have a few good examples of good management over the years as well as our fair share of some not-so-good management so we could learn what to do and what not to do. Our goal is to become the leading window cleaning company in our territory with a solid reputation for quality, service, and value for our customers, business partners and employees.
